What is the history and popularity of the app?

Front Desk are a young company having launched in 2013, yet they already have a steady growing client base and a team of more than 30 staff. Based in Seattle, the company was founded by a young team with experience in small business management.

Current clients come from the fields of fitness, sport, music, dance, and kids’ activities and are mainly small to medium sized sole proprietors and franchises. There are a number of case studies on the Front Desk website, some of which include Walbeck Baseball Academy, CrossFit Oakland, and Krav Maga Copenhagen.

What are the differences to other apps?

Front Desk has a very clear idea of who their ideal user is and the app’s features reflect this. While other client management/ appointments and scheduling apps include a feature set to match the needs of a wide spectrum of business types, Front Desk’s features cater to classes, private sessions, and workshop scheduling. The app offers additional features to match these business types such as document management and online signature for contracts, waivers and release forms; along with the ability to manage payroll including tips and commissions.

Client access to the website with the ability to cancel, reschedule, sign up for and pay for classes is another important ability of Front Desk. Another important feature is the ability for clients to sign into classes using their phones by scanning barcodes into the Front Desk kiosk.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

Front Desk’s user interface is as uncluttered as they come, with a no-fuss, green and white design and simple layout. The clients view shows a list of user profiles by photos and names, hovering over the client’s photo gives you additional information and clicking on the photo leads you to a detailed profile page. On these pages you can see important notices such as incompleted waivers, unpaid visits or unsettled bills, plans and passes, classes attended and signed up for, and more.

You can also leave notes for staff from here, or communicate directly with the client. Front Desk has a seamless, fully-optimized mobile app for use on tablets and smartphones.
